Garbage Pickup

Garbage Day for the Jackson Heights area is every Tuesday morning.  Only city garbage containers may be used.  To obtain a garbage container, or for more information about refuse collection, consult the City of Mobile website: http://www.cityofmobile.org/trashpickup/.


 


Trash Pickup

Trash Day for the Jackson Heights area is every other Friday morning.  Trash (aka "big trash") includes grass and other yard clippings, boxes and any other large items which are not generally considered regular household garbage.  A complete schedule for the year is below.  The schedule can also be found on the City of Mobile website: http://www.cityofmobile.org/trashpickup/

Recycling

There is no city-funded recycling pickup in Mobile.  If you want to recycle, you have three options:

  • Take recyclables to the "Keep Mobile Beautiful" Metro Recycling Center.

  • Pay someone to come pick up your recyclables.

  • Take recyclables to for-profit recycling centers which will pay you per pound for various items.

They will accept copper, aluminum, brass, stainless, iron, tin, steel.  If you have aluminum drink cans to recycle and you want to get paid for them, this is the place.  They pay by the pound.  Price per pound fluctuates depending on the market and can range from 25 cents to as much as 80 cents per pound.
